What is SUP Yoga?
SUP Yoga blends together the benefits of practicing Yoga with the beauty of being on the water. It is a terrific way to enhance your practice and the overall Yoga experience. As the board rocks in the water, we gently use our core stability, keep our focus and retain our concentration to remain balanced.
What to expect during the class?
In a SUP yoga session, we take our practice from the mat to the paddleboard and follow a similar pattern to a land-based session with modifications of common poses.
The session will be 60 minutes and will start with a short land-based briefing on the board, all equipment used and how to paddle, before we head out on the water (aim to get at least 45 mins on the water). We then paddle on knees and practice basic skills, before starting our SUP Yoga session on the lake.
We work up from a seated position to all fours to kneeling and if we feel confident then complete standing practice. Not only will you enjoy your yoga but your confidence in balancing on a paddleboard will increase. Previous experience of paddle boarding and yoga will be helpful but not necessary. Hence it is suitable for complete beginners and experienced paddlers or yogis.
If you would like to arrange a private session for a group whether it be family or friends or would like an individual session, then please contact the activities away and these can be be arranged.
What to wear?
• It is best to dress as you would for a fitness class.
• You can wear a wetsuit, but they are often not flexible enough for yoga.
• Bring a towel and spare clothes just in case
