The autonomic nervous system is responsible for controlling the flight or flight response. It creates physiological changes in the body to help us deal with threats to our safety. It is known that chronic stress, and that feeling of always being ‘under attack’, causes overexposure to stress hormones such as cortisol. This can disrupt many of your body’s processes, putting you at risk of sleep problems, heart disease, digestive problems, anxiety and depression, headaches and other health problems.
Time and time again, my clients tell me that after a one to one treatment session or a group Gong Bath with me, they feel more relaxed and happier than they have been in a long time. Deep relaxation calms your nervous system, and lets your body and mind find their natural balance. A relaxed person heals more efficiently than a stressed person.
