I am a psychotherapist and counsellor working in Old Street.
I trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, and now work for the NHS in east London and in private practice at Ongea. My consulting room is in Old Street on the edge of the City of London, Islington and Shoreditch. It has excellent transport links to Liverpool Street, Cannon Street, Kings Cross and St. Pancras.
I have a wide range of experience of working with individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds. I am often asked what my speciality is. I think it is the breadth of experience and the wide range of difficulties I have helped people with over my years working for the NHS and in the voluntary sector, that I can particularly offer. These maybe people struggling with depression and anxiety. Some people have been struggling with these difficulties for a long time, and have found that they have benefitted from the in depth approach that I offer.
Relationships often bring us the greatest happiness and sometimes the greatest sadness in our lives. The psychotherapy I offer thinks carefully about the relationships in our lives. It is an in depth therapy that takes time as it strives to acknowledge our complexity and the conflicts within us. I strongly believe that we are motivated by things within ourselves that we are not aware of, and it takes time to discover what these things might be. The understanding brought about by the kind of psychotherapy I offer can bring huge relief.
Particular areas of interest for me are:
- depression and anxiety;
- difficulties connected to trauma;
- foster care, adoption or boarding school;
- working in the creative world and struggles with performance or creativity;
- sexuality and gender;
- and those with difficult family relationships.
I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council and a member of The Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists
