In 1991 a group of Christians felt led to initiate a Christian counselling centre in Newport.
The next 18 months saw interest and support for the vision grow.
In May 1993 the name BRIDGE was decided upon, helping people to make bridges so that they can cross from despair to hope and new life!
Since then the Bridge has grown, not only in the number of its voluntary counsellors and receptionists, but in professionalism of training, counselling practice and supervision.
Bridge became a charity in 1995. Under the guidance of the Trustees the Bridge has moved four times to its present home, in 2010, where we are able to offer excellent facilities for both counselling and training.
Bridge is:
• Affiliated to the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC)
• A Training Resource and Agency for Barnabas Counselling Training
• Regional Office (West) for the Churches’ Ministerial Counselling Service (CMCS)
• Member of Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO)
