Based in Abingdon, I work with clients one–to–one, and am happy to work with adolescents as well as adults. I am experienced with clients addressing issues such as all forms of abuse, anger, self–harming, anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues, loss, low self–esteem and bereavement.
I use a psychodynamic approach which stresses the importance of the unconscious and past experience in shaping current behaviour. Emphasis is placed on your own personal history, since past experiences and relationships can have a significant effect on current behaviour, sometimes in ways of which we are not even aware.
I have more than ten years’ experience of working effectively with people of different ages, from different backgrounds and with different reasons for seeking therapy.
Working together we can help you make links between your past and the present, enabling you to recognise and understand current feelings. This understanding can help you to break away from the hold the past has over you, and you can begin to make changes. At the heart of the process is the relationship between client and counsellor and you should not feel that you are struggling alone.
As a BACP Registered Counsellor/Psychotherapist I adhere to their establish code of ethics. This ensures my work is confidential, ethical, competent and professional.
