My personal experiences help me gain an understanding of the women I support and enables me to be empathic to their needs whilst empowering them to make their own decisions during their pregnancy & birth.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed my volunteer job at the hospital I knew I no longer wanted to go down the midwifery path. So I followed my instincts and decided to work as a private doula.
I continued to work as a volunteer to gain more experience and then completed training with Bambis breastfeeding group at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital to further help me with my breastfeeding support skills.
I never actually ended up working as a Bambi because by this point I had become single & working 3 volunteer roles, a photography course, Gcse’s, a business course & 4 children were beginning to wear me down something had to give so i left the hospital & finished my exams & committed to the doula project.
